Hello, World!
Hello, World!
And welcome to the dataStone blog. This is our first post where we will share insights, updates, and news related to PostgreSQL, database migrations, and more.
You can find our github at https://github.com/datastone-inc. As repos are made public, we will share them here, including the Why and How and backstories.
We’ll also be cross-posting blog links from our linkedIn page at https://www.linkedin.com/company/datastone-inc/.
Otherwise, contact our founder Dave Sharpe at dave.sharpe@datastone.com to get in touch.
Philosophy

At dataStone, we have a couple of sayings about who we are:
- “95% done and 95% togo” … some PMs go apopelectic at that … they want an easy 100% done story. But those are not the kind of projects for our skills and abilities. The messy and hard … really really hard problems are of interest. We know how to make it to 95% and then maniacially focus on how to get that last 95%. And with the right partners and teams (including PMs!), the hard problems have successes and reach milestones all along the way, even as the goal posts shift and things change as you learn more. So “95% done and 95% togo” is about right.
- “Evolution Not Revolution” … we believe in making changes that are evolutionary, not revolutionary. Big bang changes are risky and often fail, or are bloody hard and chaotic (think the French Revolution). Thoughtful, incremental improvements lead to learning, understanding and then lasting success.
